I believe the voice and the rights of the American people have been traded to favor huge chemical and oil interests. I want to put the government back in the hands of the people! It is very important to remember our grassroots movement of our founding forefathers; remember - for the people, of the people, and by the people. With our political system of campaign finance special interest groups, powerful lobbyist huge oil and chemical interests, has it compromised American policy making? Whatever happened to bottom line decision making and God-given common sense. It seems to me big time money interests are running the show at the taxpayers' expense.
Right now, our government is so foul plugged and is in dire need of a major tune-up. I have more questions than answers right now. I'm not going to beat around the Bush. Americans cannot afford to support funding Afghanistan. We have already spent billions of dollars with nothing to show for it. I believe that 25%-40% of billions of dollars should be funneled back to fund American educational system and to build new schools, to create jobs, stimulate lost revenue, and build a Better America. Our children, teachers and working families cannot handle any more deep budget cuts, period.
I'm against Bush raiding our Social Security and health care Medicaid trust funds. First of all he broke his promise that he would not touch any trillion dollar trust funds. Social Security trust funds are payroll taxes paid in by us and our employers. This takes deficit spending to a new level in a major way with absolutely nothing to show for it. So much for common sense.
If that isn't enough Bush wants to cut taxes that basically benefits the wealthy. Taxpayers once again will be paying for what I call Tax Abuse! It's almost a repeat of Reaganomics. What's going to happen when the baby boomers start retiring in 2010? Could there be more people retiring than what people are paying in? This type of leadership is wrong for America.
Nebraska teachers rank 45th in the country in pay scale. We should be in the top 25. Some of the best teachers in America come from the Midwest. I will always support quality teachers and Quality Education. Our children are tomorrow's future.
I will aggressively support and introduce renewable energy programs and alternative fuel programs across the Nation, I support Earth Day Movements along with new laws for the EPA to regulate and enforce to the next level, Pollution is killing off Americans every day of cancer-related deaths, The environmental pollution alternative fuels including BioDiesel fuel will be a foundation of why I'm running for U.S. Senate, I will introduce a stimulus plan in detail at my next scheduled news conference.
I want to put the word "profit" back into the hands of the family farmer, I will support a fundamental fairness to all farmers across the board, Subsidies must be lowered to accommodate all farmers equally and fairly.
A farm policy needs to be regulated to be fundamentally fair to all farmers, not just megafarms and agribusinesses, I support a minimum wage for the first $50,000 of farm products produced, This will help encourage family farms for generations to come.
On commodity regulation, I would enact an amendment to the trader confidentiality clause of the Commodity Exchange Act to publicly disclose the identity of the four largest buyers and the four largest seller positions of futures contracts each week for each traded commodity, This is just a start, heading in the right direction.
It goes without saying, I'll always support Equality and Fundamental Fairness to all Americans, I support women in business and women's equal pay for equal work opportunities.
Thank you, see you at my next press conference.
