Letter to US Senators regarding social security, February 25, 2005

February 22, 2005

Dear Senator _________________:

The Lancaster County Democratic Party wishes to express its opposition to President Bush's plan for social security. We hope that you will join us in this opposition. Privatizing social security is not the answer.

There has been discussion on other ways to help secure social security including raising the payroll cap, limiting benefits of high income seniors, among other suggestions. While we have not endorsed any of the other proposals we encourage you to work with your colleagues to determine a different plan that can save social security without destroying it by privatization.

Thank you for considering our point of view while debating this important subject.

Sincerely,

Thomas A Green
Corresponding Secretary
Issues Chair
