On behalf of the Central Committee of the Lancaster County Democratic Party I am writing to endorse the idea of a code of ethics for the City Council. A requirement for a code of ethics was placed in the city charter by the voters and it is time that such a plan be implemented.
We would urge you to approve a panel of ethical and legal experts in this area to help formulate such a code of ethics. A code of ethics is not a simple matter and as such a panel of said experts would be a preferable method of starting to assure that future council members would clearly understand and be accountable to an ethical code.
